Welder Crew Leader – Spanish Required
We are seeking a Bilingual Welder Crew Leader (English/Spanish) to join our team in the Chester, SC region.
As the company’s first line of management, a Crew Leader supervises the work of a group of welders by using their knowledge and experience to coordinate with overall jobsite tasks/schedules/requirements. They are expected to be able to perform satisfactory welds in all positions using electric, gas or any combination of arc welding processes. Lays out, fits and fabricates metal components to assemble structural forms, such as bridge parts using knowledge of welding techniques.
Essential Duties
Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas or other welding equipment.
Proficiently cut and burn steel structures and components.
Performs related tasks, such as burning, chipping and grinding.
Assists General Foreman in prioritization, organization of work, and pursuit of project goals.
Acts under general instructions and work schedules established by higher levels of supervision and works from plans and specifications.
Successfully manages a single crew and equipment.
Demonstrates capability to safely and proficiently inspect/operate any Heavy Equipment for which a certification has been obtained.
Plans daily and weekly work schedules and individual work assignments based on a 2-week look ahead. Establishes goals to complete work satisfactorily while considering scheduling and budget guidelines.
Possesses capability to read, review, and interpret procedures, drawings, manuals, specifications, etc.
Maintains a general understanding of pre-determined wage processes and has capability to answer basic questions.
Demonstrates ability to ask, answer and/or share job and company-related questions/information in a positive manner.
Understands, utilizes, and possesses the capability to mentor others in the use of workplans, JSAs, cost reports, manhour reporting, and accurate timesheet completion.
Develops templates and other work aids to hold and align parts.
Observes/examines work accomplished, measures dimensions for conformance to specifications and inspects/evaluates work for any defects.
Demonstrates ability to perform work tasks without constant supervision.
Consistently maintains good housekeeping, eliminates potential hazards and secures work area daily.
Obtains authorization from EH&S Department to give crane hand signals and assists with placement of heavy loads.
Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), OR 5 years of related experience and /or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be able to work in confined spaces, including kneeling in confined spaces.
Must be physically able to wear respiratory protection.
Must have the agility and balance to work from a scaffold, float stages and falsework.
Must be at least 18 years old, have reliable transportation to work, and able to pass a Department of Transportation physical/drug screen and possess a NCCCO Crane Certification. Must be able to pass a Homeland Security background check to qualify for a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).
